Early Education

Growing up as an athlete, Jessica’s knowledge of the body’s systems, self-care, and health began at an early age. Suffering many sprained ankles and an ACL tear, she learned early on what it takes to ignite the body’s deep capacity for healing. While earning a B.A in Philosophy from Texas A&M University, she discovered yoga, feeling blessed (and slightly amused, upon reflection) to have discovered such an esoteric practice in the midst of ultra-conservative Texas. Post-graduation in 2004, her education in Western Philosophy evolved into the study of Eastern holistic approaches to health and spirituality.

Massage & Bodywork

She graduated from the Healing Spirits MassageTraining Program in Boulder, Colorado in July of 2009, specializing in Cranial Sacral and Shiatsu.  She immediately began further training in Shiatsu and in 2010, joined the Board of Directors of HeartMind Bodywork, helping build their Advanced Training program, from which she graduated as Valedictorian in the spring of 2012. She completed another 600 hours of training in that modality alone, and went to grow the program to a 500-hour Professional Shiatsu Therapist training program, in which she is now a Certified HeartMind Shiatsu instructor.

Qigong

Her love affair with Qigong began in massage school which was incorporated into her Shiatsu training.  Her lifelong fascination with magic and fantasy worlds (think of the movies Labyrinth and Willow) suddenly took on a new life! Qigong opened her to the palpable sensation of qi, that magic, that energy for which she had so yearned. She devoted herself deeply to that study and in 2011, became a certified Qigong instructor, specializing in HeartMind Meridian Qigong. She is still working toward her certification as a Sheng Zhen Gong Instructor.

Yoga

In 2010, in the midst of her work with HeartMind, and after having practiced yoga for eight years, she completed a long-time goal of becoming a certified yoga teacher through CorePower Yoga’s Teacher Training. Though she no longer teaches classes, she teaches each of her clients stretches and poses to address their specific pain patterns.

Further Education

Since graduating, Jessica has also pursued further training in Polarity Therapy and Lymph Drainage.

In conclusion

She continues to deepen her personal knowledge and experience in each of these realms, so that she may share fresh, new insights with her clients, from stretches for their specific issues, to sharing the knowledge of Chinese Medicine so people can gain deeper insight into their mind/body relationship. She constantly brings in new techniques to treat her clients’ individual needs and customizes her sessions so that no two are ever the same. She would be honored and excited to share her work with you.
